BATH BEACH — An MTA bus driver choked a passenger who was trying to bring his dog on the bus on Wednesday, police said.

A 19-year-old passenger tried to get onto a B6 bus at Bath Avenue and Bay Parkway with a small dog he had in his bag at roughly 11:12 a.m., when the 49-year-old driver, Toussaint Cummings told him his pet wasn't allowed on the bus, police said.

An argument ensued when the victim eventually got on the bus, and then turned violent when Cummings got out out of his seat and choked the victim by putting his hands around his neck. Then, the driver closed the doors and told the passsenger he couldn't leave, police said.

The victim eventually escaped through the rear door of the bus, police said.

Cummings, of Huntington, N.Y., was arrested and charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and unlawful imprisonment, police said.

The MTA did not immediately respond to request for comment.
