WINDSOR TERRACE — The new pre-K program inside the old Bishop Ford Central Catholic High School building will expand this year to serve 378 children, the Department of Education announced recently.

The new seats, first reported by NY School Help, are welcome news for Windsor Terrace and Park Slope families registering now for free pre-K for children born in 2011.

The deadline to apply is April 24.

The full-day pre-K program inside the Bishop Ford building on 19th Street and 10th Avenue was announced just weeks before the start of the school year in 2014 and quickly filled 126 seats with a last-minute lottery.

This year, all District 15 applicants will have an equal chance of winning seats in the program, according to the DOE's updated pre-K guide.

The new seats in the Bishop Ford building are among several additions to the free pre-K options in sprawling District 15, which includes parts of Park Slope, Carroll Gardens, Sunset Park, Red Hook and Gowanus.

Others include:

► 72 full-day seats are coming to Kensington in a pre-K center inside 701 Caton Ave., the building housing District 15's new middle school M.S. 839.

► 72 full-day seats are coming to both P.S. 230 on the border of Kensington and Borough Park and P.S. 130 on the border of Kensington and Windsor Terrace.

► 66 full-day seats will open inside 211 Eighth St., the building that's home to P.S. 118, the Maurice Sendak Community School.

► 63 full-day seats will open at the Al Madinah School on Third Avenue and Third Street.

► 54 full-day seats will be offered at P.S. 295 in the South Slope.
