Subway Service Changes to Hit 13 Lines This Weekend

NEW YORK CITY — A total of 13 subway lines will have service changes during Easter weekend, mainly because of maintenance and upgrade work on the tracks, according to the MTA

Straphangers who plan to use these lines should allow additional travel time, officials said. 

Here’s the breakdown, line by line:

1 Line  
Van Cortlandt Park-242nd Street-bound 1 trains will run express from Chambers Street to 14th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

2 Line
Wakefield-241st Street-bound 2 trains will run express from Chambers Street to 14th Street starting at 11:45 a.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Sunday and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday.

4 Line
New Lots Avenue-bound 4 trains will run express from 125th Street to Grand Central-42nd Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 6:30 a.m. Sunday, and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday.

6 Line
Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall-bound 6 trains will run express from 125th Street to Grand Central-42nd Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.

Pelham Bay Park-bound 6 trains will run express from Parkchester to Pelham Bay Park from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday.

During the spring, 6 trains will skip Zerega Avenue and Buhre Avenue in both directions.

For service to and from Zerega Avenue, straphangers can use the Bx4 or shuttle buses to connect between Zerega Avenue and Castle Hill Avenue. Free transfer will be available with a MetroCard.

For service to and from Buhre Avenue, use the Bx8, Bx24, or shuttle buses to connect between Buhre Avenue and Middletown Road. Free transfer is available with a MetroCard.

A Line
Brooklyn bound-A trains will run express from 59th Street-Columbus Circle to Canal Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday until 6:30 a.m. Sunday and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday.

Far Rockaway-Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard-bound A trains will skip Rockaway Boulevard until the summer.

For service to the Rockaway Boulevard station, take a Far Rockaway-bound A train to Aqueduct-North Conduit Avenue or take a Lefferts Boulevard-bound A train to 104th Street and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A train.

For service from this station, take a Brooklyn-bound A train to 88th Street and transfer to a Far Rockaway or Lefferts Boulevard-bound A train.

C Line
Euclid Avenue-bound C trains will run express from 59th Street-Columbus Circle to Canal Street from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

D Line
Norwood-205th Street bound D trains will be rerouted on the N line from Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue to 36th Street from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday.

E Line
World Trade Center-bound E trains will run express from 34th Street-Penn Station to Canal Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.

From 11 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday, World Trade Center-bound E trains will run local from Forest Hills-71st Avenue to Queens Plaza and Jamaica Center-Parsons Archer-bound E trains will run local from Queens Plaza to Roosevelt Avenue.

F Line
Jamaica-179st Street-bound F trains will skip 75th Avenue, Briarwood-Van Wyck Boulevard and Sutphin Boulevard from 10:45 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday

Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue-bound F trains will run local from Forest Hills-71st Avenue to 21st Street-Queensbridge from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday

Forest Hills-71st Avenue-bound F trains will run local from 21st Street-Queensbridge to Roosevelt Avenue from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday

M Line
M service will be extended to the Chambers Street J station from 6:45 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Saturday and from 8:30 a.m to 11 p.m. Sunday. 

After Essex Street, M service will be rerouted through the J Line to Chambers Street, making stops at Bowery and Canal Street.

N Line 
N trains will be rerouted via the R train in both directions between Canal Street and 59th Street in Brooklyn starting at 11:45 p.m. Friday and until 5 a.m. Monday.

Additionally, N trains will be suspended in both directions between Times Square-42nd Street and Queensboro Plaza from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Take the 7 or Q instead.

N trains will also operate in two sections between Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue and Times Square-42nd Street and between Queensboro Plaza and Astoria-Ditmars Blvd. 

Trains will run local in both directions via the R line between 59th Street in Brooklyn and Canal Street.

For service between Queens and Manhattan, take a 7 train and transfer between trains at Times Square-42nd Street or Queensboro Plaza.

For service to and from 49th Street and 57th Street-7th Avenue, take the Q train.

For service to and from 5th Avenue-59th Street and Lexington Avenue-59th Street, use the nearby 59th Street 4, 5 and 6 station. Transfer with a 7 train at Grand Central-42nd Street or hop on a N train at 14th Street-Union Square.

Q Line
Q trains will run local in both directions between 57th Street-7th Avenue and Canal Street from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday. 

Q trains will make all R station stops between Canal Street and 57th Street-7th Avenue. Transfer between N, Q and R trains at Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center or 34th Street-Herald Square.

R Line
R trains will be rerouted via the D line between DeKalb Avenue and Broadway-Lafayette Street and via the M line between Broadway-Lafayette and Queens Plaza from 6:30 a.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday.

N trains will make all R stations stops between DeKalb Avenue and Times Square-42nd Street.

Transfer between R and F trains at 34th Street-Herald Square or Roosevelt Avenue. For R stations along Broadway, use stations along 6th Avenue instead.
