HARLEM — Food inspectors did not eat fresh when they paid a visit to the Subway on Fredrick Douglass Boulevard Wednesday.
The fast food sandwich chain's Harlem location was shut down by the Health Department after inspectors found the preparations and storage area contaminated by “sewage or liquid waste.”
Phone calls to the Subway on 2165 Fredrick Douglass Blvd. were not returned Friday afternoon.
Health inspectors also found that food in the eatery was not protected from sources of contamination during “storage, preparation, transportation, display or service,” according to the Health Department.
Management for the eatery could not be immediately reached.
