BROOKLYN — A teenage boy scared off a man who tried to sexually assault his mom in their Williamsburg apartment building, sources said.

The 36-year-old woman had been walking south on Bedford Avenue after getting a sandwich at a deli on South 2nd Street when the suspect asked her for directions to the subway station shortly after midnight Thursday morning, according to an NYPD spokeswoman and the victim's husband.

He stayed by her side as she continued walking to her apartment building near South Third and Berry streets, police said.

He then changed his story and said that he was actually meeting someone inside and followed her in and up the staircase, police said.

"I'm not going to play games with you," he said when they reached the third floor before slugging her in the face, according to the NYPD.

He pulled down her pants and underwear then dragged the screaming mother down two flights of stairs, police said.

Her 16-year-old son heard her screams and ran to her, scaring the attacker off, sources said.

She refused medical attention at the scene, an FDNY spokesman said.

Her 45-year-old husband described the alleged attacker as a "scumbag" to DNAinfo.

"He's got to get caught," said the husband, whose name DNAinfo is withholding to protect the identity of his wife. "It could have been any woman around here."

The man also said several "lewd" things to the mother while she walked down Bedford Avenue, the husband added.

The suspect, who is between 25 to 35 years old, about 6 feet and 180 pounds, was not immediately arrested, police said.

He had a goatee and was wearing glasses, a yellow baseball cap, blue jeans and white sneakers, NYPD officials said. He also wore a blue jacket with yellow words that said "Lincoln St. Mary's Council 112," police said.
