MANHATTAN — A man was shot and another was beaten following an early-morning fight that started inside a toubled Washington Heights nightclub, police said.

The shooting victim, 22, was hit once in the buttocks at about 4:15 a.m. Monday in front of Mia Sushi and Steakhouse at 1506 St. Nicholas Ave., police said. Another man at the scene was assaulted with either a pipe or a baseball bat, police said.

The gunshot victim was taken to Harlem Hospital in stable condition, police and the FDNY said.

Police are searching for at least two male suspects, but no further description of them was available.

A police source said the fight, which involved a group, likely started inside of the restaurant and lounge.

The investigation is ongoing.

NYPD data shows that 34th Precinct recorded only one shooting from January 1 to March 15 of this year, the most recent time for which data was available.

Mia has a troubled history and was closed for 30 days last March as a result of late-night fights and alcohol sales to underage customers that occurred in 2012, State Liquor Authority records show.

At a November meeting of Community Board 12, a representative from the 34th Precinct expressed concerns about the owner's application to renew his liquor license. The precinct representative noted the Mia had cooperated with assault investigations and increased its security, but asked that the board stipulate a 2 a.m. closing time for the lounge.

The board ultimately voted in favor of the renewal, with a 3 a.m. closing time.

No one at Mia Sushi was available for comment.
