BUSHWICK — Plans for one of the buildings in the housing development on the former Rheingold Brewery site include amenities like an expansive green roof, urban farming areas and a library.
The seven-story, 392 unit building at 10 Montieth St., designed by ODA New York, is owned by Simon Dushinsky of Rabsky Development, the developer who purchased part of the land from original developer Read Property Group.
Despite previous concern that Dushinsky would not adhere to the same affordable housing plan that Read did, 20 percent of the units at 10 Montieth St. will be subsidized.
The unique building — which is sloped and tiered in many areas — features a slew of amenities, with a focus on outdoor and green space.
The roof will offer 25,500 square feet of space, with a park, a running and hiking course, eating areas, yoga areas and places for urban farming, according to architect ODA.
And a 19,000-square-feet courtyard in the middle of the property will feature a park, a dog run, a fire pit and an amphitheater.
Residents of the property will also have access to a cafe, a screening room, a library, co-working areas, a yoga room, a gym, a climbing wall and a play room, all of which will line the interior courtyard.
Plus, about half of the units will have their own private, outdoor space.
"With this design, ODA New York has created a platform for connection and community within this decidedly urban environment, which will be a very welcome addition to an area already undergoing tremendous change," the architect said in a statement.
The building will also have two floors of retail, with one floor underground.
The Real Deal was first to report the revealed renderings.
It was not immediately clear if ODA will be involved in any of the other properties on the development, which initially called for a total of 977 units. It was also not immediately clear whether residents in affordable housing will have access to the same amenities as market-rate tenants.
A timeline for construction was not immediately available.
Elsewhere in the development, Read Property Group has said that it plans to start construction on its first building at 123 Melrose St. this summer. It will be 80 feet tall and have 385 units, including 20 percent subsidized housing.
