Would-Be Buyer Runs Off With Boy's Balenciaga Sneakers, Police Say

WILLIAMSBURG — A teen selling his Balenciaga sneakers on Facebook said a would-be buyer threatened to "get physical" and ran off with the designer kicks without paying, police said.

The boy, 14, met the buyer at Graham Avenue near Metropolitan Avenue on Wednesday, March 11, around 4:45 p.m. to make the sale.

The buyer, whose gender was not released, asked to look at the sneakers but then started walking away, police said.

When the teen tried to get the shoes back, the buyer pushed him and said, "This can get physical if you want" before running away.

The teen kept following, but the thief caught on and threatened the victim again before he gave up, police said.

Police did not specify the value of the sneakers, but men's Balenciaga sneakers start at $585.

The incident is under investigation.

Other notable incidents in the 94 precinct include:

► A man who parked his car in Greenpoint to drop his parents off returned to find his wallet gone from the vehicle, police said.

The victim, 41, parked on Manhattan Avenue near Green Street around 10 p.m. Sunday, March 8, and returned about a half-hour later to find someone had broken his passenger-side window, police said.

The man's is wallet, which included $120, a credit card and a college ID, was missing, police said.

No one has been arrested for the incident.

► A man who left his car doors unlocked in Williamsburg returned to find his MacBook Pro, briefcase and passport gone, police said.

The victim, 33, parked his car on Metropolitan Avenue near Manhattan Avenue on Sunday, March 1 at 12 p.m., leaving a briefcase in front of the passenger seat, police said.

He returned to the car around 1:30 p.m. and then drove to JFK Airport and back, police said.

He then realized that the briefcase, which contained the laptop, his passport and a checkbook, was gone, police said.

The victim's credit card was used at a McDonald's in the Flatiron District and a Hess in Williamsburg. No one has been arrested for the incident.
