Teens Beat Up Man on Wall Street and Steal His Bike, Police Say

FINANCIAL DISTRICT — Two 15-year-olds repeatedly punched a man in his face, then swiped his bicycle during an early evening attack on Wall Street last week, police said.

The 28-year-old victim told police the teens punched him and then one of the young men pulled his bike away from him as he stood in front of 60 Wall Street at about 6:15 p.m. on March 13. Details about the bike were not immediately available.

Police arrested the two minors, whose names are being withheld because of their age. They were charged with robbery, according to police reports.

Other incidents in this week’s 1st Precinct crime blotter:

► Three men swiped an entire rack’s worth of women’s Nike apparel from the Modell's store at 150 Broadway on March 11, police said. 

Store employees told police they saw three young men enter the store at about 4:30 p.m. and head towards the women’s section. After they left, employees noticed an entire rack was cleared out, police said. The Nike apparel was worth $1,230, according to police.

Modell's did not immediately return a request for comment.

► A stranger walked up behind a 47-year-old woman and hit her on the side of her head with an unknown object as she was walked along Wooster Street on March 15 at about 5:00 p.m., police said. 

The woman fell to the ground and the attacker fled without stealing anything, police said. The woman was taken to Lenox Hill hospital and treated for a cut on her head.

► Two men shoplifted two handbags, worth a total of $5,640, from the Saint Laurent boutique at 80 Greene Street on March 15 at 3:45 p.m., police said. The men grabbed one bag each, and placed it underneath their jackets, then fled the shop, according to police.

Staff at the store did not immediately return request for comment.
