MANHATTAN — A burglar broke into a Harlem club early on Monday morning and stole a safe containing $20,000, police said.

The male suspect broke into a side door at Shrine Bar, located at 2271 Seventh Ave., around 6:30 a.m. and made off with the club's safe on foot, police said.

Surveillance footage shows the suspect wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, a blue jacket and dark pants.

The bar's owner fears it was an inside job and her trust in her employees has been shattered, she said.

“It’s not the money. Money goes and comes back. We were like one big, happy family,” said the owner, who did not want to be named because the thief is still at large.

“It's really scary and painful,” she added.

Shrine Bar, an eclectic nightspot that features live music ranging from R&B singers to African DJs, has been around since 2007.

Yelpers rave about the bar, earning Shrine four stars and bubbling praise like, "great music, high energy, friendly staff, poppin spot, mostly locals, good happy hour pricing" from patron Ashleigh A

"I have never danced my booty off so hard in my life," wrote a reviewer named Alyson C.

Police are asking anyone with information on the burglary to call Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS or to visit the website.
