Man Steals Woman's Smartphone in Williamsburg Subway Station, NYPD Says

BROOKLYN — A man stole a woman’s smartphone in a Williamsburg subway station elevator early last month, according to the NYPD.

The man followed the woman into the elevator at the Marcy Avenue station Feb. 8 at about 11:55 p.m. and stole a Samsung Galaxy Note out of her open bag, a police spokesman said.

The woman was not injured and the man fled the station.

Police described the suspect as about 24 years old, 5-feet, 6 inches tall and 140 pounds.
