BROOKLYN — A massive fire erupted in Mill Basin Monday afternoon, engulfing two homes and injuring six firefighters, the FDNY said.

The blaze started on the first floor of 2220 National Dr., near Mill Avenue, at about 2:19 p.m., FDNY said.

The fire quickly spread to the house next door and reached a third home before firefighters finally managed to squash the flames around 5 p.m., a spokesman for FDNY said.

Six firefighters who sustained non-life-threatening injuries were transported to area hospitals, the FDNY said.

A total of 39 units and 168 firefighters and medics responded to the scene, the spokesman said.
