MIDTOWN — The good transportation news this weekend is that a relatively modest 12 subway lines will face service changes. The bad news is that once again the 7 will not run between Manhattan and Queens Saturday and Sunday. If that bums you out, cheer up: You have some mild weather to look forward starting next week.
Here is your breakdown of the service changes by line:
1 Line: Service will be suspended in both directions between 14th Street and South Ferry from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. For alternative service riders can take a 2 or 3 train. Free shuttle bus service will also be provided between Chambers Street and South Ferry.
2 Line: Trains will run local in both directions between Chambers Street and 34th Street-Penn Station from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.
3 Line: Trains will run local in both directions between Chambers Street and 34th Street-Penn Station from 6:30 a.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday.
5 Line: Service will be disrupted in both directions between Eastchester-Dyre Avenue and East 180th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Service will operate every 20 minutes between East 180th Street and Grand Central-42nd Street days and evenings only.
Free shuttle buses will run all weekend between Dyre Avenue and East 180th Street, stopping at Baychester Avenue, Gun Hill Road, Pelham Parkway and Morris Park.
6 Line: Pelham Bay Park-bound trains will run express from Third Avenue-138th Street to Hunts Point Avenue from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
At all times until Spring 2015, 6 trains will skip Zerega Avenue and Buhre Avenue. For service to and from Zerega Avenue, use the Bx4. Shuttle buses connecting Zerega Avenue and Castle Hill Avenue will also be in service. Free transfer will be available with a MetroCard.
For service to and from Buhre Avenue, use the Bx8, Bx24 or shuttle buses to connect between Buhre Avenue and Middletown Road. Free transfer will be available with a MetroCard.
7 Line: Service will be suspended in both directions between Times Square and 74th Street-Broadway from 12:30 a.m. Saturday to 4:30 a.m. Monday. Riders can use the E, F, N or R lines for service between Manhattan and Queens. E trains will also run more frequently and the 42nd Street shuttle will operate overnight.
Free shuttle buses will provide service along two routes:
► Between Vernon Boulevard-Jackson Avenue and Queensboro Plaza, stopping at Hunters Point Avenue, Court Square and Queens Plaza
► Between Queensboro Plaza and 74th Street-Broadway, stopping at 33rd Street, 40th Street, 46the Street, 52nd Street, 61st Street-Woodside and 69th Street
A Line: Trains will run express from 168th Street to 125th Street from 10:45 p.m. Friday to 6:30 a.m. Sunday and from 10:45 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.
Far Rockaway-Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard-bound trains will skip Rockaway Boulevard at all times until summer 2015.
For service to this station, take a Far Rockaway-bound A train to Aqueduct-North Conduit Avenue or a Lefferts Boulevard-bound A train to 104th Street and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A train.
For service from this station, take a Brooklyn-bound A train to 88th Street and transfer to a Far Rockaway or Lefferts Boulevard-bound A.
C Line: Downtown trains will run express from 168th Street to 125th Street from 6:30 a.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday.
E Line: Trains will run more frequently between Manhattan and Queens from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Some trains heading from Manhattan to Queens will be rerouted to the Jamaica-179th Street F station. Riders should listen for announcements.
D Line: Coney Island-bound trains will be rerouted over the N line from 36th Street to Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday.
For service to 9th Avenue, Fort Hamilton Parkway, 50th Street, 55th Street, 71st Street, 79th Street, 18th Avenue, 20th Avenue, Bay Parkway, 25th Avenue and Bay 50th Street, take the Coney Island-bound D to 62nd Street-New Utrecht Avenue or Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue and transfer to a Manhattan-bound D train.
For service from these stations, take a Manhattan-bound D train to 62nd Street-New Utrecht Avenue or 36th Street and transfer to a Coney Island-bound D train.
Trains will run local in both directions between West 4th Street-Washington Square Park and 34th Street-Herald Square from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.
F Line: Manhattan-bound trains will run express from Avenue X to Smith-9th Streets in Brooklyn from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Sunday.
42nd Street Shuttle: Service will run overnight from 12:01 am. to 6 a.m. Saturday to Monday.
