CARROLL GARDENS — The owners behind popular Smith Street cocktail lounge Clover Club are opening a new restaurant on the same block.
Sagrada BK, at 221 Smith St. between Baltic and Butler streets, will feature a pan-Latin menu, the owners told told Community Board 6 Monday night. Like Clover Club, the eatery will have a “strong cocktail program,” co-owner Susan Fedroff said.
The location was formerly home to Lola’s Tapas Bar, which closed last year.
Fedroff, along with three other representatives from Clover Club, including beverage director and co-owner Julie Reiner, presented their application for a full liquor license to CB6’s permits and licenses committee.
The team has already signed on Sue Torres, of Hell’s Kitchen’s Suenos, to serve as consulting chef, and two employees from Clover Club will be transferred to the new restaurant to maintain its standard of operation, Fedroff said.
“We’ve had a really good track record of being good neighbors,” she said, adding that the interiors of 221 Smith St. have already been soundproofed so nearby residents aren’t disturbed.
Sagrada BK will also have a small outdoor garden with about five tables that will close by 10 p.m. every night.
The committee unanimously approved of recommending the liquor license.
It was not immediately clear when the new restaurant would open. Reiner declined to comment further at the meeting.
Other license applications from the meeting include:
► La Cigogne, an Alsatian eatery at 215 Union St., was approved for a full liquor license Monday night. The French restaurant specializes in a kind of flatbread called Tarte Flambee.
