Subway Service Changes to Hit 11 Lines This Weekend

NEW YORK CITY — As you plan for a frigid Presidents Day weekend, keep these subway changes in mind.

Some local trains are running express, some express trains are running local and some aren't running at all.

Here's a breakdown of the service changes by line:

1, 2 Trains:

Between 14th Street and Chambers Street, all southbound 1 and 2 trains will run express starting on Friday at 11:45 p.m. until Tuesday at 5 a.m.

4  Train:

All southbound 4 trains will run local between 125th Street and Grand Central-42nd Street overnight on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights from 11 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. The 4 will also run local from 11 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday.

6 Train:

Between Parkchester and Hunts Point Avenue, all 6 trains will run express from 6:45 a.m. Saturday until 7 p.m. Sunday evening. 

6 trains will also skip Zerega Avenue and Buhre Avenue in both directions until the spring. Instead you can take the Bx4 or shuttle buses between Zerega Avenue and Castle Hill Avenue, or the Bx8, Bx24, or shuttle buses to connect between Buhre Avenue and Middletown Road.

A Train:

Northbound A trains will run express between Canal Street and Columbus Circle from Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 11:45 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. and also between 11:45 p.m. Monday and 5 a.m. on Tuesday.

All Queens-bound A trains will skip Rockaway Boulevard until this summer. 

C Train:

Northbound C trains will run express between Canal Street and Columbus Circle starting on 6:30 a.m. on Saturday to Sunday at 11 p.m. 

D Train: 

D trains will not run between Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center and 34th Street Herald Square. Instead, take the F, N, Q or R trains or shuttle buses between Grand Street and West 4th Street. 

E Train:

Queens-bound E trains will run express between Canal Street and 34th Street-Penn Station starting Friday night at 11:45 p.m. until Tuesday at 5 a.m.

L Train:

L trains won't run between 8th Avenue and 14th Street-Union Square starting Friday night at 11:45 p.m. until Tuesday at 5 a.m. Use M14 buses instead.

N Train:

No N trains will run between Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard and Queensboro Plaza on Saturday starting at 5:45 a.m. until 6 p.m. Free shuttle buses will make stops between the two stations. 

N trains will also run local between Dekalb Avenue and 59th Street in Brooklyn starting Friday night at midnight until Tuesday at 5 a.m.

R Train:

R train service is suspended between 59th Street and 36th Street in Brooklyn on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights from 11:45 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. and also overnight Monday from 11:45 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday. Take the N instead.
