EAST VILLAGE — Nimble Fitness will open its second location in St. Mark’s Place next week and will introduce a new rig that lets up to 12 people work out at a time, its owners said.

The 2,600-square-foot space will begin offering one-on-one and small group training sessions starting on Feb. 19, said Daniel Lucas who founde dthe gym with partner Keith Pane in Union Square in 2006.

The pair recently partnered with trainer Jason Pulido, who previously worked as vice president of personal training at Crunch Fitness, Lucas said.

Like its original Union Square location, the East Village gym will focus on individualized programs and “holistic lifestyle coaching” to encourage long-term physical and mental health benefits, he said.

The East Village branch, however, contains the “Octagon,” a steel fitness rig that allows up to 12 people to perform several different exercises — like deadlifts, chin-ups and dips — at the same time.

“Someone could be doing, let’s say, a squat over there,” said Lucas, gesturing to one area of the rig.

“You have someone that could be doing the core trainer, someone that could be doing deadlifts over here, someone that could be doing the kickboxing bags [and] someone could be doing this rope pull.”

The Octagon at Nimble Fitness is about eight feet high and 11 feet wide, with a punching bag, monkey bars and battle ropes. The gym is the first in the city the use the device, manufactured by the United Kingdom-based Escape Fitness, according to Lucas and the company.

The gym also offers TRX suspension training, a full-body workout that uses body weight as resistance. Exercises are completed using straps hung from a bar attached to the wall, Lucas said.

Personal training sessions last either a half-hour or an hour, while the Octagon and TRX group classes — which are capped at six clients — typically last about 50 minutes, he said. Individual and group training sessions range from $45 to $165 per session.

Lucas said the owners picked the East Village location because of its proximity to the Union Square gym, its size and their affinity for the neighborhood.

“We figured it was a perfect fit for us,” he said.

Nimble Fitness, located at 6 St. Mark’s Place on the second floor, will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
