QUEENS — An NYPD sergeant, who was once celebrated for stopping a bank robbery, was arrested Tuesday and charged with repeatedly raping a 13-year-old Bronx girl over the span of nearly two years, officials said.
Sgt. Vladimir Krull, 37, a 10-year NYPD veteran assigned to the Midtown North Precinct, had sex with the girl, whose mom he had a relationship with, six times between September 2013 and September 2014 at various locations in The Bronx including her home, police and the Bronx district attorney's office said.
"It was a very unfortunate circumstance," Police Commissioner Bratton said. "I will be working very closely with the district attorney's office on that case moving forward."
He was charged with rape, sexual abuse, endangering the welfare of a minor, committing a criminal sex act, sexual misconduct and forcible touching, prosecutors said.
He is being held at Rikers Island on $75,000 bond and due back in court on Friday, according to prosecutors and jail records.
Krull first had sex with the girl in her home in September 2013 about a month after she turned 13, prosecutors said.
He again visited the home of the girl sometime between November and February of that year and had sex with her, prosecutors said.
He had sex with the girl four more times up until September 2014, but continued having sexually explicit conversations with her until Saturday, prosecutors said.
He was arrested about 6 p.m. within the 108th Precinct which encompasses Long Island City, Sunnyside and part of Woodside, police said.
He has also been suspended, according to NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton.
The NYPD's Internal Affairs Bureau is also investigating the incident, an NYPD spokeswoman said.
Krull was previously lauded by his superiors for stopping a bank robbery in Midtown.
