QUEENS — A person was struck and killed by a Long Island Rail Road train in Flushing Wednesday during the evening rush, officials said.
The 4:22 p.m. train to Port Washington struck the person on the tracks near Main Street a little after 4:40 p.m., a FDNY spokesman and MTA spokesman said.
Service was delayed in both directions and some trains were cancelled after the LIRR was forced to operate on a single track between Mets-Willets Point and Bayside, according to the MTA.
The agency was cross-honoring 7 trains at Flushing-Main Street and 61st Street-Woodside.
