BROOKLYN — A man was seriously injured when he was shot in the back Thursday morning across the street from a Williamsburg high school campus where two students were shot three weeks before, officials said.

The 53-year-old man, whose name was not released, was shot in his lower back by two men at 11:46 a.m. at the Williamsburg Houses at 223 Ten Eyck Walk across the street from the campus, FDNY and NYPD officials said.

The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital in serious condition.

The shooting was not connected to the high school campus, a Department of Education spokesman said.

The shooters, two men, were not immediately arrested, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

It was not immediately clear why they shot the man.

The Thursday shooting comes on the heels of another on Jan. 20 in which two students, a 17-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy, were wounded on Grand Street outside The High School for Enterprise, Business & Technology and Progress High School for Professional Careers just before 3 p.m.

The teens were listed in stable condition after that shooting, officials said at the time.
