EAST HARLEM — A woman was seriously injured when she was forced to jump from a burning second floor apartment window after a fire broke out in the Robert F. Wagner Houses Thursday afternoon, according to the FDNY.

The woman had to jump from her apartment at 2370 Second Ave. after the living room caught fire and flames spread to the back bedroom about 2 p.m., Deputy Chief Michael McLaughlin said.

She was hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

Anotehr resident, Evely Coleman, an event planner who has lived on the floor where the fire broke out for 40 years, said smoke started to fill hear apartment.

"I opened all my windows and started screaming for the firefighters to come get us," she said through tears. "They busted open my door. I'm in shock."

Three others including a small child were also taken to Harlem and St. Luke's Hospital for minor injuries, fire officials said.

About 78 firefighters got the blaze under control by 2:30 p.m.

The cause was not clear.
