NEW SPRINGVILLE — European clothing chain Primark will open its first New York City location in Staten Island.
The Irish-based chain plans to branch into the United States for the first time and share space with Sears at five locations on the East Coast, including in the Staten Island Mall, according to Sears.
Primark will lease 70,000 square-feet of space in the Staten Island store from 2016, while Sears will continue retail in 70,000 square-feet adjacent to Primark, according to CoStar.com.
The Staten Island Mall also asked the city for permission to add nearly half a million feet without building any new parking, which they plan to open in 2017, New York YIMBY reported.
