LONG ISLAND CITY — Want to see your art on display in Court Square Park?

The green space has been chosen as the next site for the Clare Weiss Emerging Artist Award, a $10,000 prize doled out annually to an artist for the creation of an outdoor sculpture in one of the city's parks.

The Department of Parks and Recreation will be accepting proposals for this year's award until March 22, according to its website, with the winner to be announced in April and the sculpture expected to go up this fall.

Court Square Park, on Jackson Avenue between Thomson Avenue and Court Square, is in front of the courthouse building and features a fountain surrounded by paved walking paths. The winning artwork would be on display for up to a year.

The Clare Weiss Emerging Artist Award is meant for artists  "who are at an early stage in their career," according to the Parks Department's website.

It is given out in memory of Clare Weiss, who worked as the department's public art curator for four years and oversaw the installation of more than 100 public artworks. She passed away in 2010.

The award was previously given to artist Jarrod Beck, who was selected to create sculptures in Manhattan's Sara D. Roosevelt Park that resemble tectonic plates.
