MIDTOWN — New York City is about to get hit by what Mayor Bill de Blasio called “one of the largest snowstorms in the history of this city."
Forecasters are predicting between 18 and 24 inches of the white stuff to fall starting Monday afternoon.

Here’s what to expect:
Monday 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.: City could see 1-2 inches of snow by the middle of the afternoon as temperatures hover slightly below the freezing mark and wind gusts reach 15-20 mph.
Monday 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.: Another 1-2 inches of snowfall. Temperatures dip to the low 20s. Winds reach nearly 40 mph.
Monday 7 p.m. – midnight: Snowfall should intensify, reaching up to 8 inches by midnight.
Midnight – 4 a.m. Tuesday: About 2-4 inches of snow expected per hour. Thunder likely. By the time New Yorkers wake up Tuesday morning, the city will likely be buried in at least 16 inches of snow.
4 a.m. Tuesday – Tuesday evening: Another significant batch of snow expected. Tuesday snowfall accumulation should be about 7-9 inches, with a total for the storm ranging from 18-24 inches.
9 p.m. Tuesday: Snow should finally begin to taper off. Winds likely to reach 20 mph.
Wednesday: Sunny with a high near 28 degrees.
