MIDTOWN — A man stole a tray of rings from a jewelry store after pretending he was interested in shopping for an engagement ring, police said.

The man walked into Aqua Master Jewelry Store at 24 W. 47th St. just before 3:30 p.m. Nov. 17, the NYPD said.

He asked a salesperson to see the rings in the window display case, and as they were being retrieved, the man reached over the counter and grabbed a different tray of rings and fled, police said.

The suspect was last seen wearing a gray baseball cap, black jeans, white sneakers and a black waist-length jacket, and carrying a black backpack, police said.

He is described as being in his 30s, approximately 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, with "short sandy hair," police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
