GREENPOINT — A hungry hipster with an eye for fashion stole an unattended designer coat, expensive sunglasses and wallet from a local restaurant New Year's Day then used the victim's credit card to go grocery shopping, police said.

The suspect, sporting a heavy mustache, absconded with a diner's A.P.C. topcoat, estimated to be worth $600, a pair of Oliver Peoples sunglasses, which usually go for $400, and a Jack Spade wallet filled with credit cards, from the stylish Mediterranean eatery Anella in Greenpoint on Jan. 1.

"He was just like a regular well-dressed man, he looked … hip," restaurant manager Salvador Rios said. "He didn’t look skeevy or weird or awkward, he looked like a regular Greenpoint kind of person."

The following day the suspect, who police said was about 5-foot-10 and in his late twenties or early thirties, made some purchases at a nearby C-Town, ringing in the new year in style and with a full belly.

The NYPD asks anyone who recognizes him to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or go to their website
