QUEENS — Dozens of public and private employers will offer jobs to Jamaica residents during a fair scheduled for this Wednesday, organizers said.

In November 2014, the most recent data available, New York City’s unemployment rate was 6.3 percent, reaching its lowest level since October 2008, according to the State Department of Labor's website.

But thousands of people continue to struggle, the organizers said.

At least 50 employers will participate in the event, including numeorus city agencies, such as the NYPD and FDNY.

Other agencies and companies attending the fair will include: the Department of Labor, the Port Authority, the Post Office, Homeland Security, the Queens Public Library and the Council for Airport Opportunities.

The offers will include part-time and full-time jobs, as well as apprentice positions.

A representative for Councilman Daneek Miller, who co-hosts the fair, said that job seekers should bring numerous copies of their resume and wear professional attire, as some employers will conduct preliminary interviews on the spot.

The fair, Miller’s office said, is open to job seekers of all ages, experience levels and backgrounds.

The job fair will take place on Jan. 14, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Southern Queens Park Association Gymnasium at 177-01 Baisley Blvd. in Jamaica, NY 11434.
