BROOKLYN — A gunman walked up to an open elevator in a Bedford-Stuyvesant apartment building and fired a single shot at close range, wounding a man inside, police said.

Dramatic video released by police shows the shooting unfold inside 940 Gates Ave., near Patchen Avenue, about 8 p.m. on Dec. 30, according to the NYPD.

In the four-second video, a bullet flies out of the gun as everyone in the elevator drops to the ground. The shooter then flees the scene.

A 25-year-old man, whose name was not released, was hit in his torso and treated at Kings County Hospital, where he is in stable condition, police said.

The motive for the attack was unclear, an NYPD spokesman said.

The shooter was last seen wearing a blue bubble jacket with brown shoulder patches over a gray hoodie.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
