EAST HARLEM — The city medical examiner has ruled the death of a 1-month-old child a homicide, according to the NYPD.

Deon McNeil was found battered and unconscious Friday night inside his apartment at the George Washington Houses at 97th Street and Second Avenue, according to the NYPD.

The child was transported to Metropolitan Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

That night, detectives from the NYPD’s Special Victims Unit questioned the child’s mother, Ebony McNeil. McNeil was in the apartment with Deon and her two other children when officers were called in, according to the New York Daily News.

On Tuesday, the infant’s death was deemed a homicide, an NYPD spokesman said.

No arrests have been made and the investigation in ongoing, he added.

The medical examiner's office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
