Service Changes Planned for 11 Subway Lines This Weekend

MIDTOWN — Service changes are planned on 11 subway lines this weekend as extensive MTA work takes place on stations and rails across the boroughs.

Here’s a breakdown by line:

4 Line: From 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, Bronx-bound 4 trains will run local from Grand Central to 125th Street.

5 Line: From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, 5 trains will run local in Manhattan and terminate at Bowling Green.

6 Line: Until February 2015, 6 trains will skip Zerega Avenue and Buhre Avenue in both directions.

For service to and from Zerega Avenue, use the Bx4 or shuttle buses to connect between Zerega Avenue and Castle Hill Avenue.

For service to and from Buhre Avenue, use the Bx8, Bx24 or shuttle buses to connect between Buhre Avenue and Middletown Road.

Free transfer will be available with a MetroCard.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, 6 trains will be suspended in both directions between 125th Street and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall. Take the 5 instead. Transfer will be available between 5 and 6 trains at 125th Street.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Manhattan-bound 6 trains will run express from Hunts Point Avenue to 3rd Avenue-138th Street. For service to Longwood Avenue, East 149th Street, East 143rd Street, Cypress Avenue and Brook Avenue, take a Manhattan-bound 6 to 3rd Avenue-138th Street and transfer to a Pelham Bay Park-bound 6. For service from these stations, take a Pelham Bay Park-bound 6 train to Hunts Point Avenue and transfer to a Manhattan-bound 6.

7 Line: From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday, 7 trains will be suspended in both directions between Flushing-Main Street and Citi Field. Free shuttle buses will be available.

A Line: Until January 2015, Manhattan-bound A trains will skip 104th Street and 88th Street.

For service to 104th Street, take a Brooklyn-bound A to Rockaway Boulevard and transfer to an Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard-bound train. For service from 104th Street, take an Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard-bound A train to 111th Street or Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A train.

For service to 88th Street, take the Brooklyn-bound A train to 80th Street and transfer to a Rockaway-Mott Avenue or Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard-bound A train. For service from 88th Street, take a Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue or Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard-bound A train to Rockaway Boulevard and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A train.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Sunday, and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, Queens-bound A trains will run express from Columbus Circle to Canal Street.

C Line: From 6:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, Brooklyn-bound C trains will run local from Columbus Circle to Canal Street. C trains will run every 15 minutes.

E Line: From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, World Trade Center-bound Es will run express from Penn Station to Canal Street. For service to 23rd Street and Spring Street, take the World Trade Center-bound E to 14th Street or Canal Street and transfer to an uptown A local, C or E train. For service from these stations, take an uptown A, C or E to West 4th Street-Washington Square or 34th Street-Penn Station and transfer to a World Trade Center-bound E.

From 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, E trains will run local in both directions between Queens Plaza and Forest Hills-71st Avenue.

F Line: From 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, F trains will run local in both directions between 21st Street-Queensbridge and Forest Hills-71st Avenue.

N Line: From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, N trains will be suspended in both directions between Lexington Avenue-59th Street and Queensboro Plaza. For service between Queens and Manhattan, take the 7. Transfer will be available at Times Square or Queensboro Plaza.

Q Line: From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday,  the Q will be suspended between 57th Street-7th Avenue and Times Square. Take the N or R instead.

R Line: From 5:15 a.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday,  R trains will skip 5th Avenue-59th Street, Lexington Avenue-59th Street and Queens Plaza in both directions. E and F trains will run local in Queens.
