MIDTOWN — Police are looking for a man who sneaked into a New York Palace hotel room and stole cash and a credit card from an elderly client as she slept.

The thief entered the luxurious Midtown hotel, where rooms can go for as much as $1,820 a night, a little before midnight on Nov. 19 and made his way to one of the hotel's 909 rooms where a 79-year-old woman was asleep, official said.

The suspect, described by the NYPD as a 160-pound, 25-year-old man, made off with roughly $100 in cash, a credit card and jewelry he stole inside the woman’s purse. No injuries were reported, police said.

The suspect was wearing black dress shoes, a black overcoat and blue jeans at the time of the robbery, the NYPD said.

Photos of the suspect released by the police also show him wearing black sunglasses and carrying several bags as well as a black backpack.

Police did not say which floor the robbery took place on, but the photos show the suspect went above the 10th floor. The hotel, located at the corner of Madison Avenue and 50th Street, has been featured on the TV show "Gossip Girl," according to the hotel's website.
