BROOKLYN — A Greenpoint man was fatally stabbed in the vestibule of his Dupont Street apartment building by a man he was fighting with Monday night, police said.
Zbigniew Truszkowski, 37, was inside 131 Dupont St., near Manhattan Avenue, about 8:40 p.m. when another man, accompanied by a young woman, stood outside the building and called him out, witnesses and police said.
When Truszkowski stepped out, the man started fighting him and eventually stabbed him in the chest before fleeing the scene, witnesses and police said.
Witnesses heard the woman, who may be the victim's daughter, repeatedly tell police, "It was an accident."
Truszkowski was pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital, police said.
His attacker still had not been caught as of Tuesday afternoon, police said.
The suspect also broke the windows out of a PT Cruiser belonging to Truszkowski's family, witnesses said.
