QUEENS — Police are looking for a man who fired at an off-duty police officer after trying to rob him in Queens in early December, according to the NYPD.

The masked robber pulled a gun on the 30-year-old officer at Sutphin and Linden boulevards at about 1:10 a.m. on Dec. 6 and told him not to move, police said.

The officer took cover behind a vehicle and identified himself as a member of the NYPD. The suspect then told the officer he was going to kill him and approached the vehicle, according to police.

Both men circled the vehicle before the suspect fired one shot, missing the officer, and then ran away.

The alleged shooter is in his 20s, about 5-foot-7 and 150 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers'website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or by texting tips to CRIMES (274637), then entering “TIP577.”
