12 Subway Lines to Undergo Service Changes This Weekend

NEW YORK CITY — Service changes will affect 12 subway lines this weekend.

The 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, A, D, E, F, G, N, R lines will undergo construction work as a part of the MTA’s capital program for upgrading and maintaining tracks, stations and signal systems, the authority said.

Here’s a rundown of the planned changes:

3 Line: Beginning at 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, 3 trains will replace the 4 train in Brooklyn and run to and from New Lots Avenue. 3 trains will run express in Manhattan.

4 Line: 4 trains are suspended between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and Crown Heights/Utica Avenue in both directions from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Alternatives are the 2, 3, N, Q and R trains.

5 Line: 5 trains are suspended in both directions between East 180 Street and Bowling Green from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday. Alternatives are the 2, 4, 6 and R trains.

5 train shuttle service will operate between Dyre Avenue and East 180 Street all weekend. Riders can transfer between 2 and 5 shuttle trains at East 180 Street and between 2 and 4 trains at 149 Street-Grand Concourse.

6 Line: The 6 train will skip Zerega Avenue and Buhre Avenue in both directions at all times till February 2015.

For service to and from Zerega Avenue, riders can take the Bx4 or shuttle buses between Zerega Avenue and Castle Hill Avenue. A free transfer is available with a MetroCard.

For service to and from Buhre Avenue, riders can take the Bx8, Bx24 or shuttle buses to connect between Buhre Avenue and Middletown Road. A free transfer is available with a MetroCard.

7 Line: Times Square/42nd Street-bound 7 trains are running express from 74th Street-Broadway to Queensboro Plaza from 5:45 a.m. to noon on Sunday.

A Line: Inwood-207 Street-bound A trains will skip the 104 Street and 88 Street stations in Queens at all times until January 2015.

For service to 104 Street, take a Brooklyn-bound A train to Rockaway Boulevard and transfer to an Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard-bound A train.

For service from 104 Street, take an Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard bound A train to 111 Street or Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A train.

For service to 88 Street, riders can take the Brooklyn-bound A train to 80 Street and transfer to a Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue or Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard-bound A train.

For service from 88 Street, take a Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue or Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard-bound A train to Rockaway Boulevard and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A train.

Queens-bound A trains will also run local from 59th Street-Columbus Circle to Canal Street, beginning Saturday at 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m. Monday.

D Line: D trains will be suspended between Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue and Bay Parkway in both directions from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Alternate services include F and Q trains, and B1, B4, B64 and B82 buses.  

E Line: E trains that are bound for Jamaica Center-Parsons Archer will run express from Queens Plaza to Forest Hills-71st Avenue from 12:15 a.m. Saturday to 6:30 a.m. Sunday and from 12:15 a.m. to 5 a.m. Monday.

E trains to Jamaica Center-Parsons Archer will also skip 75th Avenue and Van Wyck Boulevard from 12:15 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

For service to these stations, take the Jamaica Center-bound E train to Union Turnpike or Jamaica-Van Wyck and transfer to a World Trace Center-bound E train.

For service from the stations, take the World Train Center-bound E train or a Coney Island-bound F train to Union Turnpike or Forest Hills-71st Avenue and transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound E train.

F Line: F trains bound for Jamaica-179th Street will skip 75th Avenue, Van Wyck Boulevard and Sutphin Boulevard from 12:15 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

For service to the affected stations, take a Jamaica-bound F train to Union Turnpike or Parsons Boulevard and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue-bound F train.

For service from these stations, riders can take a Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue-bound F train to Union Turnpike or 71st Avenue and transfer to a Jamaica-bound F train.

G Line: G trains will run every 20 minutes between Long Island City-Court Square and Bedford-Nostrand Avenues from 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday because of Hurricane Sandy recover work in the Greenpoint Tube.

Some G trains heading toward Court Square will make last stops at Bedford-Nostrand Avenues. Transfer at Bedford-Nostrand Avenues to a Court Square-bound G train. 

N Line: N trains will be suspended between Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue and 86th Street in both directions from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Alternate service options include F and Q trains, B1, B4, B64 and B82 buses.

R Line: R trains will run express from Queens Plaza to Forest Hills-71st Avenue from 6:30 a.m. to midnight on Saturday and Sunday.
