MANHATTAN — The executive director of Gracie Mansion has been chosen as First Lady Chirlane McCray’s new chief of staff after the embattled Rachel Noerdlinger stepped down last month.
Roxanne John, who joined the administration in September, will assume her new job while continuing to work there.
McCray has also hired a deputy chief of staff, Jackie Bray, who most recently served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, where she oversaw the day-to-day management of agency headquarters.
“Roxanne’s leadership and expanded portfolio, along with Jackie Bray’s breadth of experience, will bring additional support to implementing the Mayor’s agenda,” McCray said in a statment.
“In 2015, we will deepen our focus on issues like mental health, domestic violence and expanding educational opportunities for all our children.”
John will continue to work out of Gracie Mansion and Bray will serve from City Hall.
The new chief of staff is the daughter of Trinidadian immigrants. She has 25 years of media and event experience and previously served at the vice president of marketing at the Institute for International Research.
Bray worked as a field director for both the Barack Obama and Hillarly Clinton 2008 presidential campaigns, according to her LinkedIn page.
