THE BRONX — A woman was fatally struck by a car about seven blocks from her home in Mott Haven Wednesday night, police said.

Denise Lippin, 56, was walking east along East 138th Street and stepped out from behind a highway pillar about 7:50 a.m. when a 64-year-old man driving a Nissan Sentra south on Bruckner Boulevard hit her in the intersection, according to the NYPD.

Lippin, who lived near the scene, suffered brain swelling along with injuries to her arm and leg, sources said. She was pronounced dead at Lincoln hospital.

The driver who hit her was not immediately arrested though police added that their investigation is ongoing.
