NEW YORK CITY — Snowman building will have to wait.

While snow flurries are expected to continue throughout Wednesday night, total snow accumulation won't exceed half an inch, according to reports from the National Weather Service.

"Hands down this snow is better than the rain — as long as it doesn't accumulate," said Theresa Gonzalez, 43, of East New York.

The low for Wednesday night will be around 30 degrees. However, it will feel much colder thanks to winds from the west of 16 to 20 mph.

What started as steady rainfall throughout the morning transformed into snowflakes around mid-afternoon Wednesday.

Daytime highs for the rest of the week and the weekend will hover around the 40 degree mark with a slight chance of flurries until Sunday.

"Winter's been a little unusual this year," said Kaira Watts-Bey, 14, a high school student at Urban Assembly School for Criminal Justice. "I preferred the 50 degree weather because now I have to sweep snow off of my house."

But some New Yorkers are finding the silver lining with the arrival of colder temperatures.

"It's cold, but at least it feels more like December now," said Sarah Chun, 21, a student at NYU.  "It makes me hopeful for a white Christmas."
