HAMILTON HEIGHTS — The New York Rangers are ditching Madison Square Garden for Riverbank State Park — for one afternoon at least.
Current and former players from the four-time Stanley Cup winning team will hold a skate clinic and exhibition game to celebrate to reopening of the 20-year-old ice skating rink, which just completed a $2.6 million overhaul.
The demonstrations, which mark the second phase of a 13-month project, will start at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The rink is used by about 400,000 people annually. It hosts learn-to-skate programs, hockey leagues and figure skating, according to State Parks Department spokesman Dan Keefe.
Skating is open to the public Friday through Sunday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is $3 for children and $5 for adults with a $6 rental charge.
