MIDTOWN — A nor’easter is expected to bring howling winds and buckets of rain to the city Tuesday as a slow-moving low-pressure system creeps up from the south.

The National Weather Service issued a flood watch from 6 a.m. Tuesday to 1 a.m. Wednesday as the city could see two to three inches of rain.

A high-wind watch is also in effect from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday as gusts could reach 50 mph, the NWS said.

Rain will continue throughout some of Wednesday, forecasters said.

A coastal flood advisory was issued for Manhattan, Staten Island, Brooklyn and southern Queens from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Office of Emergency Management

A coastal flood warning will be in effect for The Bronx and Northern Queens from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Daytime temperatures will hover in the low 40s all week but will dip into the 30s at night.

A National Weather Service spokesman warned Christmas revelers to be extra careful with decorations outside their homes as strong wind gusts could knock them over and cause damage.

“We don’t want those to become hazards,” the spokesman said.

After an overcast Thursday, the city should finally see some sun again on Friday, as temperatures reach 44 degrees, according to the NWS.
