STATEN ISLAND — A man was critically hurt when he and a 14-year-old boy were stabbed during a nighttime beach brawl in Midland Beach Thursday, police said.

The duo was with another man and two women who were drinking on the beach near Miller Field about 11:20 p.m. when the women started arguing, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

Jonathan Spencer, 45, was nearby when he heard the argument and came over to see what the problem was, police said.

The 21-year-old boyfriend of one of the women, whose name was not released, saw Spencer talking to the women and confronted him, police said.

The two men started arguing and Spencer stabbed him three times in the leg, leaving him critically injured, according to the NYPD.

A 14-year-old boy who was with the group then intervened but got stabbed in the left shoulder, police said.

The 21-year-old was in critical condition at Staten Island University North Hospital, where the teen was listed in stable condition, NYPD officials said.

Spencer was arrested nearby on charges of assault and criminal possession of a weapon, police said. He was awaiting arraignment Friday morning.
