QUEENS  — The dog that was tossed from a moving car in Queens last week is receiving round-the-clock care and her future is uncertain, officials said.

The 7-year-old female Rottweiler, named Dasher, was found on Cypress Avenue, near the Jackie Robinson Parkway exit in Glendale at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, witnesses said. The case is now under investigation by the NYPD.

Initially the animal was taken to BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Forest Hills for treatment, but after police took over the case, the dog was transferred on Saturday to a hospital run by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the Queens clinic said Monday.

“This incident is under investigation by the NYPD Animal Cruelty Investigation Squad,” police officials said in an email.

Dasher, as the vet clinic staff named the dog, "is currently receiving round-the-clock medical care at the ASPCA Animal Hospital for multiple health complications," said an ASPCA spokeswoman in an email.

"Given the severity of the...dog’s conditions, it is too early for a definitive prognosis," she added.

Paul Miranda, the manager at the Forest Hills clinic, said Monday that Dasher “was stable when she left" the clinic.

He also said that the clinic took X-rays Friday to determine Dasher’s injuries but “there was nothing obvious on them.”

The dog has a large abdominal mass, which Miranda said was probably formed prior to being thrown from the car. She also suffered a seizure after being brought to Forest Hills, the clinic said.

William Aaron, a firefighter from Ladder 135 in Ridgewood who was at the scene in Glendale on Thursday, told DNAinfo New York that witnesses told him they saw the dog wrapped in a bag being tossed from a moving car.

Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
