TRIBECA — A subway conductor was whacked in the face with a box of wooden coffee stirrers as he was pulling out of the Canal Street 1 train station, police said.

The 47-year-old conductor was on the train at about 10:35 p.m. on Nov. 10 when a man threw the box of stirrers at his face, according to police reports.

The attack left the conductor with a bruised cheek and scratches, police said.

Police were still investigating the incident as of Tuesday.

Metropolitan Transportation Authority spokesman Kevin Ortiz said the agency was "assisting the NYPD in their investigation."

Other recent crimes in the 1st Precinct include:

► A shoplifter stole a $1,545 handbag from Balenciaga at 148 Mercer St. on Nov. 15, police said.

The man took the gray patent leather bag from a shelf, and then walked out at about 1:45 p.m., police said. Balenciaga didn't immediately return a request for comment.
