THE BRONX — Police have identfied the man they believe pushed a 61-year-old father in front of an oncoming D train Sunday morning while his wife looked on and are searching Randall’s Island and south Bronx homeless shelters for the suspect, sources said.

Wai Kuen Kwok and his 57-year-old wife were standing on the Manhattan-bound platform at the 167th Street subway station at about 8:45 a.m. when the man pushed him onto the tracks in a seemingly unprovoked act.

The man then fled the subway station and jumped on a BX35 bus, traveled about six blocks to Jesup Avenue and West 170th Street where he went into a bodega and bought a cigarette, according to the NYPD and workers.

Sources said the suspect has an extensive criminal history.

Neighbors described Kwok as a caring husband and father of two grown sons.

Police are looking for a middle aged, balding man who was wearing a black leather jacket with gray jeans and white shoes.

There is a $2,000 reward for information leading to his capture.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
