WEST VILLAGE — Get ready for tacos on Christopher Street.

Bushwick-based Mexican food hot spot La Gringa Taqueria is expanding to Manhattan, with a new location at 82 Christopher St.

Owner Henry Fernandez, 37, said he realized it was time to grow when the taco shop's catering business took off.

"Our catering got big," he said, explaining that a lot of La Gringa Taqueria's orders are for offices in Midtown. "So we were like, 'It makes sense to be in Manhattan.'"

"We're excited," he added.

The new location, which is set to open later this month, has a big kitchen in the basement, which was a major draw, Fernandez said. With orders regularly coming in for 60 to 100 people, the prep space is badly needed.

Other than the basement kitchen, the new place looks very similar to the eatery's 800 Grand St. location in Brooklyn. Food will still be made to order right in front of the customers on the upstairs level, and there will be a little backyard for outdoor seating.

The menu will offer tacos — stuffed with pulled pork, chicken, tilapia and sweet plantains — as well as burritos, nachos and margaritas. The tacos cost $7 to $9 for two, while the burritos top out at $9.75.

The restaurant's Brooklyn regulars need not worry, Fernandez said — the Grand Street location will remain open and just the same as it has been for the past three years.
