Service Changes Planned for 16 Subway Lines This Weekend

MIDTOWN — Service changes are slated to affect 16 subway lines this weekend as extensive MTA work takes place.

Here’s a breakdown of the changes by line:

1 Line: From 11:30 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, 1 trains will be suspended in both directions between 137th Street and Van Cortlandt Park-242nd Street. A and C trains, M3 buses and free shuttles will provide alternate service.

2 Line: From 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday, Wakefield-241st Street-bound 2 trains will run express from 3rd Avenue-149th Street to East 180th Street.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Flatbush Avenue-Brooklyn College-bound 2 trains will run express from Barclays Center to Franklin Avenue.

3 Line: From 6 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, New Lots Avenue-bound 3 trains will run express from Barclays Center to Franklin Avenue.

4 Line: From 11 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday, and from 11 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, Brooklyn-bound 4 trains will run local between 125th Street and Grand Central.

From 11:45 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday to Sunday, and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, New Lots Avenue-bound 4 trains will run express from Barclays to Franklin Avenue.

5 Line: From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, 5 trains are suspended in both directions between Eastchester-Dyre Avenue and East 180th Street. Free shuttle buses will operate all weekend between Eastchester-Dyre Avenue and East 180th Street, stopping at Baychester Avenue, Gun Hill Road, Pelham Parkway and Morris Park.

From 5:45 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, and from 7:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, East 180th Street-bound 5 trains will run express from 3rd Avenue-149th Street to East 180th Street.

6 Line: At all times until February 2015, 6 trains will skip Zerega Avenue and Buhre Avenue in both directions.

For service to/from Zerega Avenue, use the Bx4 or shuttle buses to connect between Zerega Avenue and Castle Hill Avenue. Free transfer is available with a MetroCard.

For service to/from Buhre Avenue, use the Bx8, Bx24 or shuttle buses to connect between Buhre Avenue and Middletown Road. Free transfer is available with a MetroCard.

From 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, 6 trains will run every 16 minutes between Third Avenue-138th Street and Pelham Bay Park. The last stop for some Pelham Bay Park-bound 6 trains will be Third Avenue-138th Street. Shuttles from Third Avenue-138th Street to Pelham Bay Park will be available.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday, Pelham Bay Park-bound 6 trains will run express from Parkchester to Pelham Bay Park.

7 Line: From 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday, Flushing-bound 7 trains will run express from Queensboro Plaza to 74th Street-Broadway.

A Line: Beginning at 5 a.m. Monday until January 2015, Inwood-bound A trains will skip 104th Street and 88th Street in Ozone Park.

For service to 104th Street, take a Brooklyn-bound A to Rockaway Boulevard and transfer to an Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard-bound A. For service from 104th Street, take an Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard-bound A to 111th Street ot Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A.

For service to 88th Street, take the Brooklyn-bound A to 80th Street and transfer to a Far Rockaway or Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard-bound A. For service from 88th Street, take a Far Rockaway or Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard-bound A to Rockaway Boulevard and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, A trains are suspended in both directions between Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard and Rockaway Boulevard. Free shuttle buses provide alternate service between 80th Street and Lefferts Boulevard, stopping at 88th Street, Rockaway Boulevard, 104th Street and 111th Street. Transfer between free shuttle buses and A trains at 80th Street.

From 11:45 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Friday to Sunday, and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, Queens-bound A trains will run express from 145th Street to Columbus Circle.

From 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, Inwood-bound A trains will run express from Canal Street to 168th Street.

C Line: From 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Brooklyn-bound C trains will run express from 145th Street to Columbus Circle.

D Line: From 10:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Norwood-bound D trains will run express from 145th Street to Tremont Avenue.

E Line: From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, E trains will be rerouted over the F line in both directions between Roosevelt Avenue and West 4th Street. Free shuttle buses will provide alternate service between Court Square and Queensbridge, stopping at Queens Plaza.

From 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, E trains will run local in Queens.

F Line: From 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, F trains will run local in Queens.

G Line: From 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, G trains will run every 20 minutes between Court Square and Bedford-Nostrand Avenues. The last stop for some Queens-bound G trains  will be Bedford-Nostrand Avenue.

J Line: From 5:45 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, J trains will be suspended in both directions between Hewes Street and Essex Street. Free shuttle buses will provide alternate service between Hewes Street and Essex Street, stopping at Marcy Avenue. Transfers between trains and free shuttle buses will be available at Hewes Street and Essex Street.

J trains will operate in two segments: between Jamaica Center and Hewes Street; and between Essex Street and Chambers Street every 15 minutes.

M Line: From 5:45 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, M trains are suspended in both directions between Myrtle Avenue and Essex Street. Take the J or L or free shuttle buses instead. Free shuttle buses will provide alternate service between Hewes Street and Essex Street, stopping at Marcy Avenue.

S Line: From 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Saturday, Franklin Avenue shuttles will run every 24 minutes.
