JACKSON HEIGHTS — The Queens County Market will bring a pumpkin patch and Diwali celebration to the neighborhood later this month.
The market will join the regular Jackson Heights farmers market outside Travers Park on Sunday, Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
At the fall celebration, also put on by the Jackson Heights Green Alliance, there will be live music, a photo booth and plenty of kid-friendly activities, including a Diwali festival in a kids tent, organizers said.
Vendors include Booqoo Beignets, which sells the New Orleans-style treat topped with traditional powdered sugar or caramel sauce; Veda's Catering, which serves Guyanese curry roti and other specialties; and East Coast Roast, a husband and wife team that roasts its own beans.
There will also be a book signing by author Andrea Lynn, who recently released Queens: A Culinary Passport, about the borough's global cuisine.
The Queens County Market pops up throughout the borough and features a rotating list of local cooks and food entrepreneurs, including chefs, bakers and food manufacturers.
