UPPER WEST SIDE — Police are hoping these thieves get their just desserts.

Two men broke into a cafe on the Hudson River last week, stealing chocolate and cheese during the late-night heist, police said.

The duo lifted up and shimmied underneath a gate at Riverside Park's seasonal outdoor cafe Pier i about 3 a.m. Oct. 1, making off with a chocolate mousse torte and a cheese plate when they couldn't find any cash to swipe, police and restaurant staff said.

"We have cash tills but there’s no money in them," explained Pier i manager Erick Greene, who watched security footage of the crime. "They tried to open them but they couldn’t open them."

After failing to palm any greenbacks, they turned their interest to the cafe's refrigerators, Greene said.

One of them helped himself to a Diet Coke, which he left on the counter, and the two then grabbed the $14 cheese plate and $30 chocolate mousse torte to go.

Police dusted the can for fingerprints, Greene noted.

He said the cafe is working on making sure the gate is better secured so no one can slide under it.

Other notable crimes in the 20th Precinct include:

► A woman slashed her roommate with a kitchen knife during a fight at their Riverside Boulevard apartment, police said. The woman, 23, and the male victim, 44, were verbally fighting in their home about 1 a.m. on Sept. 28 when the woman pulled out the knife and slashed his right arm, according to police. The cut was not serious enough for him to go the hospital. Police arrested the woman, whose identity they did not release.

► A man stole $3,100 worth of diabetes test strips from a Duane Reade on Broadway and West 75th Street, police said. The suspect went behind the pharmacy's counter about 5 p.m. on Sept. 27 to snatch the strips, said police, who are using video surveillance to try to track down the thief. The store declined to comment.

► Someone stole a purse from a woman who left it on the floor of an Amsterdam Avenue Thai restaurant last week, police said. The victim left the purse behind when she went to the bathroom while dining at Land Thai Kitchen at 450 Amsterdam Ave. on Oct. 1 at 8 p.m., police said. When she returned to her table, the purse, which held her iPod and her wallet, was gone, police said. The restaurant declined to comment.

► Someone stole a bag off the back of a chair at an Amsterdam Avenue bar last week, police said. The female victim was dining with her daughter and husband at 8 p.m. on Oct. 2 at St. James Gate, 441 Amsterdam Ave., when she placed her bag on the back of her chair and left to use the bathroom, police said. When she returned, the bag was gone, along with $63, her Samsung cell phone and her credit cards, she told police. The restaurant did not immediately respond to request for comment.
