RIDGEWOOD — A historic German cultural hall will celebrate its 90th anniversary in Queens with live music and traditional food.

Gottscheer Hall was built at 657 Fairview Ave. in Ridgewood in 1924 by immigrants from the Gottschee region, a part of Slovenia that was once German.

On Sunday, Oct. 5, they'll celebrate nine decades in the neighborhood with live music from Herb Morscher, Gus Sengenberger and their band, as well as a performance by the Erste Gottscheer Tanzgruppe dancers.

Food from the Gottschee region, including gulasch, apple strudel, sauerkraut, and palatschinken, a crepe, will be served up by guest chef Berta Kump.

The party starts at 1 p.m. and runs until 6 p.m., according to organizers.

Tickets are $20 for kids and $39 for adults. Guests are encouraged to reserve tickets ahead of time, although there is an extra table for walk-ins, they said.

Reservations can be made by calling Elfriede at 917-362-9072 or Gottscheer Hall at 718-366-3030.
