Pedestrian Struck by Ladder Truck Responding to Brooklyn Fire, FDNY Says

BROOKLYN — A pedestrian was hospitalized after being struck by an FDNY ladder truck responding to a fire in Midwood Friday afternoon, a fire department spokeswoman said.

The pedestrian, was struck by the fire truck at Coney Island Avenue and Avenue M about 1:23 p.m., according to the FDNY. The private Hatzolah ambulance service transported the person in stable condition, the fire department spokeswoman added.

Fire officials did not have further information on the victim, but JP Updates reported that the person struck was an 86-year-old woman. According to the report, she was taken to Lutheran Medical Center with serious injuries.

The ladder truck was responding to reports of a fire at Avenue L and Nostrand Avenue, according to the FDNY.
