QUEENS — Foodies will get a chance to taste ethnic delicacies at dozens of Queens' restaurants for discounted prices during an expanded Queens Restaurant Week later this month.

Roughly 150 restaurants from nearly 30 Queens neighborhoods, from Astoria to Rockaway, will participate in this year’s event, which will last 18 days, from Oct. 13 until Oct. 30, the organizers said.

The festival, held for the 11th time, has been gaining popularity, according to Rob MacKay of the Queens Tourism Council, which organizes the festival.

Last year, the event lasted 8 days and about 100 restaurants participated in it, MacKay said.

Food lovers will get a chance to try menus featuring cuisines from around the world, including Italian, Greek, Indian, Cajun, French and Asian.

MacKay said that this year he also noticed an increase in the number of participating restaurants that are located in Jackson Heights and Corona, including numerous eateries serving Ecuadorian, Columbian, Peruvian, Dominican and Argentinean food.

During the festival, most of the participating restaurants will offer three-course, prix fixe meals for $28, according to MacKay. Lunch specials will be $14.

Some restaurants may offer prix fixe meals only during weeknights, MacKay said.

The annual event, which usually goes on for about one week, will for the first time last nearly three times longer.

“Somebody might say that people in Queens don’t know how to count but the truth is that there are so many great restaurants in our borough that our Queens Restaurant Week was expanded to actually last 18 days,” MacKay said.

The festival will kick off on Monday, Oct. 6, with an event at Atlas Park (80-00 Cooper Ave., Glendale). Starting at noon, more than 10 eateries, including Agora Taverna, Austin’s Ale House and Bourbon Street, will offer free samples of their food.
