GREENPOINT — A teenager who stole pricey electronics from the headquarters of online fundraising site Kickstarter last week has been charged in the burglary, in addition to a similar theft in the neighborhood earlier this month, authorities said.
Raymond Mersier, 16, who stole three MacBooks and an iPhone from the tech company's headquarters at 58 Kent St. last Wednesday night, was also busted for swiping expensive Apple products from a luxury South Williamsburg building a week and a half earlier, the Kings County District Attorney's office said.
In the earlier incident, Mersier stole two MacBook Pros, an iPad, a backpack and clothing from apartments at The Continental, at 184 S. Fourth St., on Sept. 13 at 10 p.m., the DA said.
He and three other suspects, who have not been arrested, were seen entering the building by holding the door open after someone left, according to the criminal complaint.
Surveillance video then showed the group leaving, including one person with a rectangular object and another with a backpack, the complaint noted.
In the second burglary, Mersier walked in by grabbing the door after a food delivery worker entered, police said.
He and another person, who has not been arrested, then left the building with rectangular objects covered by the second suspect's shirt, according to a criminal complaint.
Kickstarter declined to comment.
Mersier has been hit with a slew of charges, including third degree burglary, criminal trespass and criminal possession of stolen property, the DA said. His next court date is set for Oct. 2.
His attorney could not be reached.
Other notable crimes in the 94th Precinct include:
► A man walking on Nassau Avenue last Thursday evening was robbed at gunpoint of $300, police said.
The victim, 19, was walking east when he was approached by two suspect on Nassau Avenue near Russell Street on Thursday at 6:30 p.m., police said.
One of them displayed a black firearm at the waist before taking $300 from the victim's pocket, police said.
The victim ran into a local deli and was followed by the two robbers, who then fled in an unknown direction, police said.
No one has been arrested.
► A 64-year-old man who left $10,000 inside a book at his apartment came home to find it gone earlier this month, police said.
The man, who lives on Wythe Ave., said the theft happened between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sept. 1, police said. He reported the incident on Sept. 24.
It was unclear why he waited to report the crime.
He said he left the money inside a book that was held in an unspecified compartment, police said. A code is required to enter the apartment, and only two other people had the code, police said.
There was no sign of forced entry, and none of the other valuables in the apartment were touched, police said.
No one has been arrested.
► A woman working on North 12th St. was attacked by a co-worker trying to grab money from a cash register last week, police said.
The woman, 38, was at work last Wednesday around 11 p.m. when a colleague from a different location tried to get into the register, police said.
When she tried to stop him, the man said, "I'm going to get paid" and grabbed her forearm, causing scratches and redness, police said.
He then ran away without taking any money, police said.
The woman refused medical attention while at the 94th precinct, located at 100 Meserole Ave., police said.
The suspect has not been arrested. Police did not provide information on the exact location of the incident or the business type.
